See the status of a Gmail message after it’s been delivered

Using Gmail’s Email Log Search feature in the Admin console, G Suite admins can track the delivery of messages sent and received by users within their domain. Until now, admins had to reach out to end users directly or search their mailboxes to see the status of a message after it had been delivered. With this launch, that’s no longer necessary, as a message’s post-delivery status will be listed in Email Log Search results.

Going forward, to see the current location of an email, whether it’s been read or deleted, as well as any assigned labels, admins can simply expand the “Post-delivery message details” under “Recipient details” in an Email Log Search result. With this info, admins will be well-equipped to help users find missing messages.

A note about messages more than 30 days old
The date range search options for message delivery logs in Email Log Search are limited to 30 days. With this launch, we’re introducing a new date range field of “Older than 30 days.” Please bear in mind that this new field will only retrieve the post-delivery message details for messages received more than 30 days ago. It will not retrieve any other information.

How to get email header in outlook and gmail

How to get email header in Outlook:

In Outlook 2016, 2013, or 2010
In an open email message, click the File tab.

On the Info tab, click Properties.

Header information appears in the Internet headers box.

 

In Outlook 2007
Open an email message.

On the Message tab, in the Options group, click the Dialog Box Launcher Icon image .

In the Message Options dialog box, the headers appear in the Internet headers box.

 

How to get email header from Gmail

  1. Log in to Gmail
  2. Open the message you’d like to view headers for.
  3. Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top of the message pane.
  4. Select Show Original.
  5. A summary of the headers will appear in a new window. To get the full headers, click Download Original.

Note: If you use Gmail with a work or school account and have S/MIME enabled, you can click Download S/MIME Original or Download Decrypted.

 

 

 

 

Gmail admins can now notify internal senders when their email gets quarantined

Through Gmail compliance and routing settings, Gmail administrators can now choose to notify internal senders when their messages get quarantined, depending on your compliance rule.
Below is an example of the email that users will receive when their emails get quarantined:

To enable the feature: In the Admin console where you setup and configure policies to quarantine messages, there is now a checkbox at the bottom to “Notify sender when mail is quarantined (onward delivery only)”. This feature is default off for existing rules, but when you create a new rule, the default is on.

Gmail will block .js file attachments starting February 13, 2017

Gmail currently restricts certain file attachments (e.g. .exe, .msc, and .bat) for security reasons, and starting on February 13, 2017, we will not allow .js file attachments as well. Similar to other restricted file attachments, you will not be able to attach a .js file and an in-product warning will appear, explaining the reason why.

If you still need to send .js files for legitimate reasons, you can use Google Drive, Google Cloud Storage, or other storage solutions to share or send your files.Gmail will restrict js file attachments

A more modern Gmail app for Android

Today, the Gmail app for Android is getting updated with a more modern style, sleeker transitions, and a few other handy improvements.

As part of the new design, there’s now a convenient reply button at the bottom of every message, making it quick and easy to continue a conversation when you’re on the go. And if you access the app on your Android tablet, you’ll notice it’s easier to switch between accounts and the different inbox categories.

The updated Gmail app also now supports all email providers, which means you can set up a separate inbox for, say, your Yahoo Mail or Outlook.com addresses using POP/IMAP.

The new app will support all Android 4.0+ devices. It’s available today on all devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop and will be rolling out on Google Play to everyone else over the next few days.
